After arriving in Leh you will be escorted by our team to the designated hotel. Today is going to be an uneventful day as you are not supposed to venture out in the town, and just relax in the hotel. Flying directly to Leh means you are going from a city in the plains to a high altitude place in just a span of a couple of hours which poses a risk of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) . Due to lack of vegetation, the oxygen level in Leh is extremely low and that’s why it is recommended to at least spend one day getting acclimatised. Drinking at least 3-4 litres of water is very important along with taking proper rest
Today morning after breakfast we will have a detailed expedition breifing and your motorbikes will be alloted. You can do the trails and check the motorbikes for ride comfort, get the basic tweeking done by the mechanic as per your ride requirements.
Afternoon we go on a sightseeing tour. This will give you an opportunity to get comfortable in the motorbike and also learn how to ride as a group in formation. We will be visiting Shey and Thiksey Monasteries.
Today, we ride to Nubra Valley through the highest pass in the whole expedition, Khardung La Pass at 5359m. We will continue towards the headquarters of Nubra Valley Diskit and then to Hunder. Between Diskit and Hunder lies the famous white sand dunes of Nubra Valley where the amazing double-humped Bactrian camel’s graze.
Turtuk Village is the last village towards the Pakistan Border of India where civilians are allowed to go. The village comes in the Gigit Baltistan region where the climate and geographical features are different from that of other parts of Ladakh. The village is extremely beautiful and is a place not tobe missed on a Ladakh trip. We ride to the village in the morning and came back to our resort in Nubra by the end of the day.
After breakfast, we ride towards the much-awaited Pangong Tso Lake. Most of our ride will be along the beautiful Shyok river and crossing the major villages like Agham, Shyok, Durbuk and Tangste. After reaching Pangong Tso, enjoy the beauty, serenity and calmness of the lake.
This ride takes you from the breathtaking Pangong Tso, with its shimmering turquoise waters, to the serene and remote village of Hanle at 4,300 metres. Covering 163 km, the ride is filled with surreal landscapes, shifting from the vastness of the lake to the barren yet beautiful high-altitude deserts of Ladakh. Riding through this rugged terrain offers a sense of solitude as you pass by sparse, untouched lands and catch glimpses of local wildlife and nomadic camps. With the altitude gradually rising, the ride also becomes a lesson in acclimatisation, preparing you for the high passes ahead.
One of the most thrilling segments of this journey, today’s 160 km ride takes you up to Umling La Pass, the highest motorable passes in the world. With elevations soaring beyond 5,800 meters, this road demands endurance and caution, as well as respect for its thin air and steep inclines. The 6-hour journey from Hanle to Umling La and back is grueling but extremely rewarding. Surrounded by endless vistas of mountains and valleys, the sense of isolation here is unparalleled. The return to Hanle offers a chance to decompress, reflect on the day’s adventures, and prepare for the next leg.
A 170 km ride awaits, leading from Hanle to the pristine Tso Moriri Lake, which sits serenely at a high altitude surrounded by peaks. This stretch takes you through the geothermal wonderland of Puga, where steaming hot springs create a surreal landscape in contrast to the rugged terrain. The road is a mix of gravel and dirt tracks, with fewer visitors and increasing remoteness adding to its allure. As you arrive at Tso Moriri, the azure lake against the backdrop of towering mountains offers a truly memorable view, with the untouched natural beauty giving riders a deep sense of peace and accomplishment.
The final leg of this extraordinary journey spans 215 km from Tso Moriri back to Leh, taking roughly 7 hours. Riding through the village of Chumathang, known for its hot springs, this route combines long, smooth stretches and winding mountain roads, a well-earned contrast to the rugged paths of previous days. This segment offers changing panoramas, from high-altitude pastures and stark landscapes to river valleys lined with greenery. The journey back to Leh feels almost like a victory lap, a chance to reflect on the unforgettable days spent exploring Ladakh’s remote wonders.
This day is kept for any kind of contingencies. This day can be used to explore the local Leh markets and do shopping.
Today we will take a morning flight to Delhi. Once landed in Delhi we will drive to the pre booked hotel and check in. Afternoon you are free to relax in a hotel or go out and do some shopping in Delhi.
Mobile network coverage in Spiti Valley is limited and sporadic, especially in remote areas like Kibber and during wildlife spotting excursions. You can expect reliable mobile service in larger villages and towns such as Delhi, Shimla, Kalpa, and Tabo. However, in high-altitude and secluded spots, connectivity may be weak or unavailable. It’s advisable to inform family or friends about your itinerary and maintain communication during areas with better network coverage.
